Overview
Broockmann Water Advisory (BWA) was engaged by Essential Water to manage the detailed design development for the replacement of the Broken Hill Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Scope of Engagement
BWA has led the program through all phases of the detailed design stage, providing expertise in:
- Program and Project Management: Established a robust governance structure and delivered project and communication plans to maintain alignment across cost, quality, and schedule.
- Design Management: Directed the detailed design process, ensuring compliance with contract obligations, technical concept and specifications and stakeholder expectations.
- Contract and Financial Management: Administered the design contract to ensure obligations were met, issues addressed promptly, and variation claims were minimised through proactive monitoring.
- Project Control and Scheduling: Maintained the project schedule and progress reporting framework, advising on corrective actions to stay aligned with planned timelines.
- Risk Management: Maintained a comprehensive risk register, enabling early identification and mitigation of design-related and construction-phase risks (e.g. rock excavation).
- Transaction and Procurement Management: Managed tendering and engagement of technical consultants, surveyors, and specialist advisors required for design delivery.
- Regulatory Stakeholder Engagement: Engaged proactively with the NSW EPA and DPIE to ensure the design aligns with environmental license conditions and Section 292 approvals.
